You remain fully clothed during treatment
The BTL EMSELLA treatment is non-invasive and comfortable, and you remain fully clothed while sitting on the physiotherapy chair throughout. During each 28-minute session, the muscles of the pelvic floor contract over 11,000 times. Does EMSELLA work for everybody?
BTL EMSELLA is designed to treat stress urinary incontinence in women. Stress incontinence is the accidental leakage of urine caused by an increase in intra-abdominal pressure from activities such as exercise, coughing, laughing, or sneezing. There are several cases where we do not advise undergoing EMSELLA treatment including:

- – If you have any metal surgical implants such as those that may have resulted from a hip replacement or similar procedure
- – If you are pregnant
- – If you have a pacemaker
- – If you use a coil or other IUD

If you have any intimate jewellery we advise that these are removed during treatment.
What does the procedure feel like?
EMSELLA uses electromagnetic stimulation of the pelvic floor muscles. The therapy is approved by the US Federal Drug Administration. A coil in the chair generates pulsed electromagnetic fields that penetrate deep into the pelvic floor muscles inducing stimulation and providing rehabilitation of weak pelvic muscles. Most of our clients say they feel a slight “tingling” during treatment that is not painful.
Each treatment takes about a half hour and is carried out fully clothed. You can comfortably read a book or magazine during your treatment.
How quickly will I see results?
A course of treatments requires six 30 minute sessions spread over a period of 3 weeks. Most of our clients report an improvement after the first 2-3 sessions.
Can I achieve the same results with Kegel exercises?
The EMSELLA chair uses High-Intensity Focused ElectroMagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate powerful deep pelvic floor muscle contractions. During one session in the chair you will experience the equivalent of 11,200 Kegel exercises. It is not possible to exercise with the intensity or coverage that can be achieved using the EMSELLA treatment chair.
